Countdown to Disappointment
I certainly hope this time is different, that real spending cuts actually take place. Heck, I'd probably be happy with a budget freeze. That would be an improvement over the current trajectory. However, I'm already getting the vibes that the establishment will triumph and spending will continue its relentless march upward. The rhetoric of the campaign seems to be fading and replaced with the caution and quid pro quo of incumbency.

I hope that there will be fiscal restraint in the future. We have to do something because we are laying a huge burden on our successors. We can't go on spending like this into perpetuity expecting different results.
