The Bears Explain High Gas Prices

Now that the price of gas is heading down, where are the politicians on their soapboxes blaming the price decrease on the speculators. After all, the speculators bet on prices going both up and down.

  1. The chart is so simple "even an economist can understand it". I love it. Holding interest rates below market values has many not well understood and subtle impacts and in my view was the cause of '08. Bill Bennett asks if colleges respond to low student loan rates by holding down tuition increases. Don't bet on it.
Volcker brought inflation under control by targeting the growth rate of money. The market set interest rates. We need to return to that approach and send Bernanke back to Princeton IMHO.
