Individualism vs. Collectivism

The information in this video should be a required part of our educational experience. For those in the entertainment industry, the news media, academia, or government who might be confused, the United States was founded on the concept of individualism.

  1. Nice music, would be better if the music volume was a little bit lower. ;)

    I think the point in the first video is an important one -- rights are ultimately earned through power. Without regards to the various ideologies and philosophies regarding the nature of rights and their origin, the only true rights that anyone has are those that are recognized and can be enforced.

    In recent history those nations that have tended toward individual liberty and freedom have had more of an ability to preserve this system through the increased wealth which can support a larger government and more projection in the military to ultimately safeguard those rights against potential aggressors. Excessively collectivist systems such as the USSR eventually reached a point of implosion. Will this be always true going forward?
